Demonstration Testing Begins for Autonomous Drone Operations Combining Wireless Charging and AI-Based Object Detection
We have begun flight demonstration testing of an industrial drone equipped with a 500 W wireless charging system.
The tests confirmed that once the drone lands, wireless charging starts automatically. After charging is complete, the drone can remain on standby, ready to resume flight whenever required.

In conventional drone operations, personnel often need to travel to the operating site to replace batteries, creating an obstacle to efficient and automated operation.
Our wireless charging system enables the drone to start charging simply by landing on the charging station, eliminating the need for manual battery replacement or connection to a charger.
This not only improves drone availability but also helps reduce operator workload and supports labor-saving and unmanned operations.

■ Toward Unmanned Operation Through Autonomous Flight

B&PLUS aims to achieve fully unmanned drone operation by combining wireless charging with autonomous flight technology. The drone can automatically fly along a predefined route at scheduled times or in response to remote commands. When the battery level becomes low, it returns to the charging station. After landing, wireless charging begins automatically. Once charging is complete, the drone can resume its mission, enabling continuous operation with minimal human intervention. |

The wireless charging system used in this demonstration provides 500 W of charging power and automatically starts charging after the drone lands.
The onboard charging unit has also been designed to be compact and lightweight, enabling high-power charging while minimizing its impact on the drone's flight performance.

■AI-Based Recognition and LiDAR for Safer Autonomous Flight
The drone is equipped with two onboard cameras whose video feeds are analyzed by AI in real time.
When the AI detects people, vehicles, animals, or other specified objects, the system can automatically execute flight-control actions such as stopping the drone.
This functionality is designed to improve the safety of autonomous flight and contribute to the development of safer autonomous drone systems.

We are also developing technologies that use LiDAR for environmental perception and obstacle detection, as well as for generating high-precision point-cloud data for surveying and terrain analysis.
